Neighborhood Commercial Districts

The City of San Francisco owes much of its appeal to the unique character of its neighborhood commercial districts. Each commercial corridor has its own distinct sense of place, defined by its restaurants, retail shops, cafes, entertainment, nonprofit organizations, public art and arts groups, professional outlets, and other elements that serve local residents and visitors. The neighborhoods are the economic engine of the City; the Invest in Neighborhoods initiative seeks to leverage City services to strengthen neighborhoods by helping small businesses thrive, improving physical conditions, increasing quality of life, and building community capacity.

Invest in Neighborhoods is being piloted in 25 commercial districts around the City.
